BIPOC Mental Health Resources

Three women holding hands

This is a follow up blog to last week's where we discussed the history of mental health access for BIPOC individuals. In today's post, we wanted to round up a list of mental health resources for BIPOC individuals that you can refer to whenever you or someone you love may need them.

Black Mental Health Alliance:

At the Black Mental Health Alliance, their mission is to develop, promote, and sponsor trusted culturally-relevant educational forums, training and referral services that support the health and well-being of Black people and their communities. Their goal is to serve any and everyone from other clinicians, to families, to individuals, to children!

Black Mental Wellness:

Black Mental Wellness is a great place to find various culturally responsive fact sheets that describe mental health disorders and information related to diagnoses and symptoms, coping and wellness strategies, and information on accessing treatment. They also focus on behavioral health topics from a black perspective and destigmatizing mental health in the black community.

LatinX Therapy:

Doing their part to destigmatize mental health in the LatinX community, LatinX Therapy is a great resource to help find books in both English and Spanish about various mental health struggles for both adults and children, and podcasts and YouTube videos discussing various therapy practices, identity struggles, and mental health issues in different languages.

National Alliance for Hispanic Health:

National Alliance for Hispanic Health focuses on improving the health and wellbeing of Hispanic individuals through improving the quality and availability of care. They also have free and confidential health information in Spanish and English.

TherapyforBlackMen.org:

Focusing on the mental health and well-being of black men and boys, this is a great resource for stories of individuals and their journey with mental health, blogs about being a professional of color, and more.

WeRNative:

WeRNative is a comprehensive health resource for Native youth, by Native Youth. They provide content and stories relating to mental health and well-being and strive to promote holistic health and positive growth in our local communities and nation at large.

Online resources are a great place to start when understanding the basics of mental health and what you may be going through. But, they’re no substitute for talking to a professional to discovering the underlying causes of and solutions for your mental health challenges.
