Accessible Rest in Lieu of Vacation

Bathtub filled with water and a book

In a perfect world we would all make enough money and get enough time off to take a vacation at least once a year to relax. Unfortunately though, that’s not the reality we live in. But, whether it's on a beach in Italy, or in your bathtub, it’s important to take time to rest and rejuvenate this summer, even if it’s only for a weekend. So, we’ve gathered up our favorite accessible ways to rest this summer either at home or in your city that don’t require time off or much, if any, disposable income.

Hobby Time at Home!

Take a day or a full weekend to pick up (or start!) any hobby that you haven’t been able to get around to recently. This can be reading a book, coloring, painting, knitting, baking, anything! Just take some time to do something that brings you joy.

Spend Time With Loved Ones:

Call a friend or family member on the phone, or invite them over and spend quality time with them! Being around people you love is the best, natural and free stress reducer in the world. Even better if they want to bring their hobby over with them so you can work on something together while you hang out!

Go to the Movies:

It’s going to be an extremely hot summer and not all of us have the luxury of air conditioning in our homes. The movie theater is a great place to go to cool off and see something fun! Plus, most theater chains like AMC or Regal Cinemas have half priced days where tickets are around $6. This is a great way to relax and treat yourself to something fun!

Take Some Time to Take Care of Yourself:

Taking time to take care of yourself is totally up to your interpretation. It might mean going for a walk or doing some yoga in your living room, cooking yourself a nourishing meal, painting your nails or taking an extra long shower, watching a comfort movie or show. Anything that makes you feel good and at ease!

It’s easy to feel down during the summer if a vacation isn’t in your cards. But, there are still plenty of ways to relax and rejuvenate this summer that don’t take a lot of time or cost a lot of money. Hopefully you found this list helpful and try something on it!
